October 29, 2020 - Manila, Philippines — For his latest television role, Robin Padilla has been starring in Net 25’s new show, “Kesayasaya!”, a musical sitcom about Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their family and friends who are all adjusting to the challenges of COVID-19.
The show’s cast includes Vina Morales as Robin’s co-lead, together with musical legends Darius Razon, Eva Vivar, and Cynthia Garcia.
Robin plays Ricardo “Carding” Magtanggol, a foreman in Saudi Arabia who works hard to provide for his family, as well as to be present for his fiancée (played by Vina Morales) who he often tries to charm via video call. In one instance, he serenades her through a laptop, singing Rico J. Puno’s “Sorry Na, Puwede Ba”. The sweet character of Carding will resonate with the many OFWs who have made many sacrifices to keep their families intact.
Since its pilot episode last September 27, the show has been viewed by Filipinos living in different countries like China, England, Switzerland, and Australia. On his Instagram, Robin expressed his gratitude to these fans, who have found comfort in the show’s relatability and fun tones.
“Tuwang tuwa sila sa musical sitcom ng net 25 kakaiba raw ito sa lahat ng sitcom,” he wrote.
(They really enjoy Net 25’s musical sitcom. They say it’s like no other sitcom.)
(It was fun shooting this episode because Director Jemster (Jose Mari) and Writer Rhandy captured today’s Pinoy culture. Come check Net 25’s Facebook Page to enjoy and be one with the life of our fellow Filipinos and OFW heroes.)
Despite his reputation as the “Bad Boy of Philippine Cinema”, the action star never shied away from sentimental roles like Carding. “Fit na fit ang role niya dahil si Robin ay kilalang makabayan at alam ng buong Bansa yun,” said Director Jose Mari Reyes. “So portraying the character as an OFW, malaking impact niya sa viewers lalo na sa mga OFWs.”
(He really fits the role because Robin is patriotic and the whole country knows it. So portraying his character as an OFW will have a huge impact on our viewers, especially OFWs themselves.)
Robin has also championed hardworking farmers by hosting “Unlad: Kaagapay sa Hanapbuhay”, another recent show that tackles agriculture, industry, and livelihood. You can catch it on Net 25 every Sunday at 7:30 PM.
“Keysayasaya” is available on Net 25 every Sunday at 6:30 PM. It is also available for streaming on Net 25's Facebook and Youtube pages.
